shoes

bright white

I'm trying to look for the upside of spring fashion; past the safari jackets and linen and other adventurer-in-Africa looks that are destined to dominate the season.

One spring mini-trend I'm genuinely into is white booties. A few prime examples: these woven Giuseppe Zanotti shooties (top), Madison Harding's perforated, lace-up wedge (right) and Jeffrey Campbell's grunge-inspired take on the Dr. Marten (left.) What a welcome, literal bright spot in a season full of Earth tones.

velvet angels

Love the new Velvet Angels collection at Diavolina and snagged myself a pair of the Decibels (far right.) I may despise disco, but I'm a sucker for platforms and mirrors.

buckles, zippers, sparkles.

A few things fall is good for.

still life with louboutin

image via Peter Lippmann

This is my favorite image among many amazing images shot by Peter Lippmann for the Christian Louboutin Fall 2009/2010 lookbook.

Why is this my favorite photograph? It's not only because it features dripping candles, moldy old books and a foreboding skull. It's because when I first saw these shoes, they reminded me of something Pocahontas might wear if she landed a role on The Hills.

Genius.
