The Essex Lights

My friend Michael Brawer has, of late, been writing songs under the name The Essex Lights. (Clearly he is not a native of Los Angeles.) I wanted to share a few of my favorites here. "Hang in There, Kiddo" and "Walk, Stagger, Stumble, Dance" are both originals, and his cover of "Pitseleh" by Elliot Smith is a really original take on a pretty flawless-in-the-first-place song.

Also, if you're interested in becoming Mel to Brawer's Jemaine, I'll warn you that he doesn't always look like he does in this picture. Sometimes he rides around on the coolest bike in town. And sometimes he even puts down his drink!

Dear Twinsie,

It was very lovely to see you over the holiday it reminded me of how much I miss being around your amazingly motivated self. Although I recently joined Facebook I have only been on it that once, as I cannot bring myself to check it again after recent sad events (ie my broken heart), as why I am writing to you here and not there. I will probably take a gander at it in another month's time after I have miserably spent my entire bank account on peter pan collar dresses and useless shoes I will never wear because I cannot walk in, nor can a future librarian show up to work in.

I sure love and miss you guys. Keep your fingers crossed that I get the new high paying career slash job I just applied for so I can FINALLY make my trip to Disneyland. I damn well deserve it.

xo

Aww--I'm sorry to hear that.

Aww--I'm sorry to hear that. There is never enough time to hang out. E-mail me sometime soon and fill me in on the exciting developments in life, would you?
