But I thought the lavender lips at the Doo.Ri show were gorgeous. I keep reading articles and blogs calling the shade "gray" and "deathly" and "unflattering," but I would personally choose words like "purple" and "disco-y" and "romantically Goth." This is not the frosty purple of the 1970s or the severe, punky purple of the 1980s. It's neutral and, I think, pretty in a futuristic way.

Yesterday, I went on a quest to see if I could find some shade of lipstick or gloss that approximated the look, and didn't have much luck. So my suggestion would be to try layering MAC's Lavender Whip lipstick and YSL Pur Black gloss. You won't get the same matte finish, but the chalkiness of this look is part of what I think put people off so much in the first place. Now if I can only find a fitting substitute for those lace, sequined Doo.Ri tights...
