Most honest cyclists--from crunchy fixed-gear devotees to pro-outfitted, $8,000 roadie enthusiasts--will admit biking is a pursuit that's quite concerned with style. Whether it's finding a way to artfully rig a pair of pants so they don't get stuck in the gears, tracking an obscure team jersey, or covering a messenger bag in punk band buttons and "Cars Are Coffins" patches, serious bike riders have a style that's very much defined by their hobby. (You can trust me on this because a) I used to be pretty into road cycling and b) I live with a person who enjoys spending the weekends riding at the edge of the law by participating in late-night biking party-slash-demonstrations like Critical Mass and Crank Mob.)
And the ladies at Cyclodelic truly understand all this. The fashion-oriented biking gear company was founded by two female cyclists in London, who create easy-breezy, ultra-colorful bike-friendly clothes and accessories like satin caps and jeweled trouser cuffs to avoid that nasty stuck-in-the-gears phenomenon.
Now Topshop has picked up on their chic approach to all things bike. The megastore will feature a line by Cyclodelic at the Oxford Circle shop starting on April 9. There's no word yet on whether us stateside cyclists will have a shot at snagging the goods, but I, for one, will be checking the American site with bated breath in about two weeks.
